CAC Cavies Website

Pets

Pets come in all colours and they are basically any type of cavy with no breed standard, or a breed with faults.

Above are two pictures. The first one is Buddy and Kristian. Buddy is a Cream Agouti, but he has patches of cream, making him a nice pet. Kristian is a Coronet, but his coat is not in full length. The second picture is of Max and Archie. Max is a swiss but he has a very short coat. This usually gets a lot of attention from pet judges, trying to figure out his breed . Archie is also a swiss. He is only a baby yet so he could end up showable in swiss classes, but at the moment he has a parting down his back, so he is a lovely pet.

If a pet is to be shown, they should be clean and friendly. A pet can be long-haired or short-haired, and any cavy who you are not sure of their breed can be shown in pet classes.

Below is a picture of Cocoa, my Chocolate/Cream pet. He is actually an Abyssinian, but the Abyssinian should have 8 clear rosettes, Cocoa has less. He has won me several Best Pet awards, including a trophy and a lot of rosettes.
